About the Role
We’re currently partnering with a well-established, forward-thinking engineering consultancy to find an experienced Electrical Department Manager for their San Jose office. This is a leadership role suited to someone who combines strong technical expertise with team management and project delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of ~15 electrical engineers/designers, including mentoring, performance reviews, and resource planning
- Oversee project delivery as a Lead Electrical Engineer/Project Manager across a range of projects
- Support hiring, staff development, and retention initiatives
- Develop project scopes, fee proposals, and ensure quality assurance standards are met
- Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders
- Manage project financials and ensure delivery within budget and timelines
- Review designs, submittals, RFIs, and support construction phase activities
Requirements
- 12 years of experience within a consulting or design-build electrical engineering environment
- Proven project management and team leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and engineering processes
- Proficiency with industry tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, EE analysis software)
- PE license preferred; LEED accreditation is a plus
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Compensation & Location
- Hybrid role based in San Jose, CA
- Salary range: $160,000 – $190,000, depending on experience
