Chiller / HVAC Technician – Alabama, Birmingham
We are seeking a Chiller Technician / HVAC Technician who understands what best-in-class service looks like and can consistently deliver it.
This role is a key member of our Facilities team, responsible for supporting some of the most efficient and cost-effective data center operations in the industry. Due to the importance of this role, a significant equity package may be available for best-in-class candidates.

Overview
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, performing maintenance and repairs across critical data center infrastructure.
We operate in a mission-critical environment, where uptime is paramount. Our facilities are maintained to the highest standards to ensure uninterrupted service to customers.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has hands-on experience in data centers or field service environments
- Has worked with chillers, HVAC systems, or similar cooling infrastructure
- Understands the importance of precision and reliability in critical environments

Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and repair critical data center systems, including:
- UPS, PDU, Diesel Generators, ATS equipment, Building Controls
- Chillers, CRAH units, and computer-grade cooling systems (including closed loop cooling systems)
- Develop reliability reports to ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved, maintaining 100% uptime
Coordinate and oversee maintenance vendors to:
- Ensure personnel safety
- Protect critical facility equipment
- Maintain continuous power to critical loads
- Create and manage:
- MOPs (Method of Procedure)
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- EOPs (Emergency Operating Procedures)
- Respond to safety and emergency situations while maintaining a safe and secure work environment
- Manage multiple projects (both one-time and ongoing) with minimal supervision
- Collaborate internally across all levels and externally with vendors
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (5 preferred) working on industrial mechanical and electrical systems within mission-critical environments
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing:
- Chillers and HVAC systems
- Air handling units
- Computer-grade and closed loop cooling systems (required)
Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical distribution systems (MV/LV switchgear and controls)
- Emergency power systems (generators, fuel systems, paralleling switchgear)
- UPS systems, PDUs, and building monitoring/control systems
Demonstrated ability to:
- Operate, maintain, inspect, test, and repair critical systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, single-line diagrams, and schematics
- Experience creating, updating, and managing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
- Background in electrical or mechanical fields strongly preferred
- Strong technical foundation with intent to obtain relevant licensing
