What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at X-Factor Consulting?
Our client is seeking a Structural Engineer for an excellent position located in the Baltimore, MD area. This position will own existing-building restoration work from investigation through construction support: diagnosing structural deterioration, envelope distress, water intrusion, and performance shortfalls, then completing the analysis and repair design that improves long-term safety and meets code.
Responsibilities
- Develop repair strategies that improve long-term safety and support code.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, specialty consultants, and internal staff
- Direct or produce repair drawings, specifications, bid documents, and construction-phase reviews.
- Perform field inspections and quality observations on occupied buildings, active sites, rooftops, and similar environments, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Review team deliverables and coach/mentor junior engineers.
- Contribute to proposals and ongoing client development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (master’s preferred)
- Active PE license
- 3 years in structural, restoration, forensic, rehabilitation, or existing-building consulting.
- Hands-on experience assessing, investigating failures, and designing repairs.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, construction documents, and recommendations.
- Experience managing projects full scope, including budget, schedule, and clients.
- Forensic or failure analysis experience is a plus.
Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
