Structural Engineer

This role offers an opportunity for a Structural Engineer with 3–10 years of structural building design experience to take ownership of complete construction drawing packages for a wide variety of building projects. You will use industry-standard structural design software and CAD/BIM tools to prepare permit-ready drawings, coordinate closely with other disciplines, and contribute to projects ranging from residential communities to office, educational, medical facilities, and parking structures. Responsibilities

• Prepare full sets of structural construction drawings, typically ranging from 5 to 50 sheets, for permit submittals.
• Perform structural building design for a variety of project types, including residential homes and communities, office buildings, educational facilities, medical facilities, and parking garages.
• Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to develop and revise structural plans, sections, details, and schedules.
• Apply structural analysis and design software such as RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc to complete calculations and verify design compliance.
• Coordinate design work with other disciplines and skill sets to ensure fully integrated and constructible building solutions.
• Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes to inform structural design decisions.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain design documentation and calculation packages to support permit and construction requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve design issues and respond to questions from stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to quality control by checking drawings and calculations for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
• Support continuous improvement of design standards, templates, and processes within the structural engineering team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Design.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering and structural building design.
• Proficiency in preparing complete structural construction drawing sets for permit submittals.
• Hands-on experience using AutoCAD for structural drafting and documentation.
• Hands-on experience using Revit for structural modeling and coordination.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and building design practices.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines and project stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, code-compliant structural designs.

• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
• Experience working on a variety of building types, including residential, commercial, educational, medical, and parking structures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and drawing packages simultaneously.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.

This is an in-office position based in Sparks, MD, working on site five days per week. The company offers flexible start and finish times to support individuals with family obligations. You will work in a collaborative office setting using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software including RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc. The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
