Field Project Manager — Construction Operations

Lead complex construction initiatives from concept through completion. This role offers the opportunity to oversee high-impact field projects within a fast-moving construction environment. The Field Project Manager is responsible for coordinating teams, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Position Overview

The Field Project Manager plays a central role in managing construction-related projects of varying size and complexity. This position bridges field operations, business stakeholders, and project teams to ensure that objectives are clearly defined and successfully executed.

The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the confidence to lead discussions with cross-functional teams. From coordinating timelines and tracking budgets to mitigating risk and resolving challenges in real time, the Field Project Manager ensures that every phase of a project progresses smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

Oversee multiple construction projects from initial planning through final delivery. Guide teams through each stage of the project lifecycle while ensuring alignment with operational goals and performance expectations.

Project Planning & Strategy

Facilitate planning sessions with internal stakeholders to define project scope, establish clear objectives, and develop actionable plans. Build detailed project roadmaps that include timelines, milestones, and measurable performance indicators.

Schedule & Milestone Management

Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules. Monitor progress against defined milestones and adjust plans as necessary to keep projects on track.

Risk Management & Problem Resolution

Identify potential risks early and implement strategies to minimize disruption. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop practical solutions when issues arise.

Stakeholder Communication

Serve as the primary communication link between field teams, internal stakeholders, and project sponsors. Provide regular updates on project progress, key metrics, and emerging challenges.

Budget Oversight

Track project expenditures, monitor financial performance, and support cost-control efforts. Maintain clear documentation of invoices, budgets, and financial forecasts.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain organized project records including schedules, meeting notes, databases, and performance metrics. Ensure that accurate documentation is available to support project transparency and accountability.

Team Coordination & Development

Assign resources and guide team members through project phases. Provide coaching, support, and constructive feedback to help individuals perform effectively and grow professionally.

Continuous Improvement

Capture lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle and share insights with broader teams to strengthen future project execution.

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience

Minimum of five years of experience managing construction or field-based projects, with demonstrated success overseeing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Project Management Expertise

Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute projects while balancing schedules, budgets, and operational priorities.

Organizational Excellence

Exceptional ability to manage details, maintain documentation, and keep complex projects organized from start to finish.

Communication Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Adaptability

Comfort working in fast-paced environments where priorities may shift and quick decision-making is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Hands-on experience managing construction field operations and coordinating contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

Proficiency with project management and planning tools such as Microsoft Excel and Smartsheet for scheduling, reporting, and data analysis.

Work Environment

This role is based at an active construction site in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. The position operates on a standard weekday schedule of Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with responsibilities focused on coordinating on-site activities and project execution.
