What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Foundation position at WinnMed?
WinnMed is seeking to hire a Director of Foundation ! This position is responsible for the effective management and operation of the WinnMed Foundation by fostering a culture of philanthropy among organization stakeholders and the communities we serve. The director develops, coordinates, and executes the strategies necessary to develop donor relationships and financial gifts to achieve support over the long term and is responsible for board and donor relations, gift research and cultivation, annual and capital campaign success, and grant writing management.
The Director will:
- Collaborate with the Foundation board on short and long-range goals, strategies and vision; implements board-directed plans.
- Develops and maintains foundation policies, procedures and standards.
- Builds strong relationships with board members and donors; provides guidance on programs and funding topics.
- Oversees planned giving and major donor programs; proactively seeks funding through grants, donor recognition, and fundraising activities.
- Tracks funds and donations, ensures proper allocation and usage per donor intent and assure accurate donor records.
- Manages donor communications, newsletters, solicitations, and promotional materials in partnership with WinnMed Marketing department.
- Maintains donor recognition program and fosters ongoing donor engagement, including donor lead generation and follow through.
- Works closely with WinnMed leadership and departments to align foundation activities with organization programs and opportunities.
- Serves as an ambassador of WinnMed, promoting organization services in a positive manner.
Work Location: This position will be located on the WinnMed Campus in Decorah.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least three years experience in communications, public relations, fundraising, or related field required.
- Previous experience in donor stewardship, major gift solicitation, and grant writing beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Computer word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and desktop publishing software knowledge required.
- Knowledge of principles and specific activities used in successful philanthropic efforts required.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
