What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coding Specialist position at WinnMed?
WinnMed is seeking a full-time Coding Specialist to join our Health Information Management Department (HIM) Team! The Coding Specialist is responsible for applying diagnostic and procedural codes to patient visits for retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. This position will work closely with providers in to improve coding specificity and accuracy for clinic coding. Work schedule
- Typically, Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts; Day shift.
- No weekends, no holidays.
- Training and orientation will be required and may take place either onsite or remotely, as determined by the employer. After completion, remote work is available as an option
- Completion of a Health Information Management program required
- AHIMA certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required within 6 months of employment
- Previous coding experience preferred
- Working knowledge of an electronic health care record and document imaging system desired
