Community Representative – Marketing and Communications
Position Overview:
Western Tidewater Community Services Board (WTCSB) is seeking a dynamic, outgoing, and relationship-driven professional to serve as a Community Representative. This position plays a key role in expanding awareness of behavioral health, developmental, and substance use services across Western Tidewater by building strong partnerships with community providers, organizations, and the public.
This is not a clinical role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, presenting, coordinating outreach, and representing an organization in the community.
The Community Representative works closely with the Marketing & Communications Department to increase visibility, strengthen referral relationships, and support strategic growth of agency programs.
Responsibilities and Duties for Community Representative:
- Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, medical providers, schools, community organizations, and partner agencies
- Coordinate and attend outreach events, health fairs, and community activities
- Represent WTCSB at meetings and public events
- Help schedule presentations, appearances, and speaking opportunities
- Distribute promotional materials and provide information about services
- Identify new opportunities to increase community awareness and referrals
- Assist with planning outreach campaigns and engagement initiatives
- Track outreach activities and partnership development efforts
- Work closely with Marketing to support brand recognition and public education
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable meeting new people and representing an organization publicly
- Organized and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
- Interest in community outreach, public relations, marketing, or human services
- Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, human services, public relations, business, or related field, strongly preferred
- Experience in outreach, sales, marketing, recruitment, community work, or public relations preferred
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, social services, or nonprofit work
- Experience coordinating events or outreach activities
- Experience building partnerships or referral networks
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
