This class works to create strong relationships between community groups to promote the well-being and safety of youth and young adults through the City of Hampton’s Comprehensive Violence Reduction Roadmap under the direction of the Neighborhood Engagement Supervisor. The incumbent will additionally oversee and manage an easily searchable online resource guide for professional providers and Hampton residents to connect communities to available resources and services to improve quality of life. This position works with the community to reduce violence in the City of Hampton.

Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, Psychology or a closely related field of study.
- A minimum of two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in family engagement, child development or closely related experience.
- Proven ability to develop relationships with diverse group of stakeholders and participate in community outreach.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- May be required to possess a driver’s license and satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external clients.
- Incumbent must be able to work independently with little direct supervision and to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.
- Requires considerable travel within the City of Hampton.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
