Summary:
The Marketing Compliance Reviewer is responsible for reviewing and approving marketing and advertising materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role serves as a critical control within the risk management framework, helping to mitigate legal, regulatory, and reputational risk associated with consumer‑facing communications related to financial products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and approve consumer‑facing marketing and advertising materials for financial products and services to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance.
Evaluate marketing content against consumer protection requirements, including but not limited to TILA, FCRA, and UDAAP standards, ensuring disclosures are clear, accurate, and not misleading.
Assess marketing claims, pricing representations, terms, and conditions to identify potential legal, regulatory, or reputational risks.
Provide clear, actionable feedback and guidance to marketing teams on compliance requirements, required revisions, and acceptable risk positions.
Interpret and apply regulatory expectations issued by federal banking regulators (e.g., CFPB, OCC, FRB, FDIC) related to advertising and consumer communications.
Serve as a key control in the marketing governance process by documenting reviews, decisions, and rationales in accordance with internal policies and audit requirements.
Escalate identified compliance risks, issues, or trends to management and relevant risk partners (Legal, Compliance, Risk) as appropriate.
Partner with marketing, legal, and product teams to proactively advise on compliant content development early in the marketing lifecycle.
Stay current on changes to consumer protection laws, regulations, enforcement actions, and regulatory guidance impacting marketing and advertising.
Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and issue remediation efforts related to marketing compliance.
Key Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge of consumer protection and marketing laws applicable to financial services, including TILA, FCRA, and UDAAP principles.
Familiarity with regulatory expectations and guidance issued by federal banking regulators related to consumer advertising and marketing practices.
Experience reviewing or advising on consumer‑facing marketing materials such as websites, digital ads, emails, disclosures, direct mail, or social media content.
Strong ability to identify misleading, inaccurate, or incomplete statements and assess compliance risk within marketing communications.
Solid understanding of compliance risk management frameworks, including documentation, issue tracking, and escalation protocols.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory requirements to non‑technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when balancing compliance requirements with business and marketing objectives.
Ability to manage multiple reviews simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience working cross‑functionally with marketing, legal, product, and risk teams.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Law, Communications, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent compliance experience).
