Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the vehicle maintenance team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform diagnostic assessments, repairs, and routine maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including light-duty and heavy-duty models.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime and extend the lifespan of the fleet.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to order necessary parts and supplies, managing inventory effectively.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend preventive measures.
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding vehicle status and maintenance needs.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety standards and regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive technology is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a vehicle mechanic preferred.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; additional certifications (e.g., ASE) are a plus.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
