Custodian

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Custodian at Webster County High School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This full-time position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of school facilities, ensuring that all areas are presentable and safe for use.
• Handle waste disposal and recycling according to established procedures.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events, meetings, and activities, including moving furniture and equipment as needed.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or needs to the supervisor.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards, reporting issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and students.
• Collaborate with other staff members to promote a positive school environment and address any custodial concerns.
• Participate in training and professional development as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is an asset but not required.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to all school policies and regulations.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
