Preschool Instructional Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing individual to join our team as a Preschool Instructional Assistant at Providence Elementary School. The ideal candidate will support the lead teacher in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, fostering social and emotional development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The Preschool Instructional Assistant will play a vital role in promoting a love for learning and helping children develop essential skills in preparation for their educational journey.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
• Supervise and engage children during playtime, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Support individual and small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts and skills.
• Monitor student behavior and provide positive guidance, helping children develop self-regulation and conflict resolution skills.
• Prepare classroom materials and resources to enhance learning experiences.
• Assist with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and transitions between activities.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to provide updates on student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom space, ensuring that materials are properly stored and accessible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the lead teacher.
• Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid required.
• Must pass background checks and comply with all school district policies and procedures.
• Availability to work full-time hours, including potential early morning and late afternoon shifts.
