Instructional Assistant II

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant II to join our team at Sebree Elementary School. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting student learning and fostering a positive educational environment. The Instructional Assistant II will work closely with teachers and staff to assist in the academic and social development of students, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the implementation of lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs, to enhance their learning experience.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation in classroom activities.
• Facilitate small group instruction and tutoring sessions to reinforce concepts taught in class.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement strategies for effective classroom management.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to education.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including grading, record-keeping, and preparing reports as needed.

Requirements

• 42 college hours or completion of the paraeducator exam.
• Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably with elementary-aged children.
• Strong understanding of child development and effective instructional strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Ability to lift and assist students as needed, including those with mobility challenges.
