Our Client is seeking an experienced Asphalt Roller Operator to safely operate heavy machinery used to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt. This role is responsible for achieving proper density and surface finish on roads, parking lots, and other paved surfaces. The position requires close coordination with paving crews, understanding of asphalt material behavior and temperature, and strict adherence to safety standards in a fast paced outdoor environment.

- Operate rollers (smooth drum and pneumatic tire) in overlapping passes to achieve required compaction and smoothness
- Coordinate with paving crew using hand and audio signals to maintain proper speed and direction
- Monitor asphalt temperature and adjust machine settings such as frequency, amplitude, and water systems for optimal compaction
- Perform breakdown and finish rolling to ensure proper density and final surface quality
- Conduct daily pre and post operation equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues
- Operate equipment safely while maintaining awareness of surroundings and crew members
- Use hand tampers or plate compactors in areas inaccessible to rollers
- Prevent surface defects by adjusting pressure, speed, and rolling patterns
- Maintain water systems and drum components during operation
- Assist with job site setup, cleanup, and additional duties as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment
- Work safely in environments that may include traffic, heat, dust, and uneven terrain
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating asphalt rollers, including breakdown and finish rollers
- Strong understanding of asphalt compaction techniques, material behavior, and temperature control
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment inspection and maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL preferred, tanker endorsement is a plus
- Work is performed outdoors on residential, commercial, and roadway paving projects
- Projects may include parking lots, municipal roadways, and highway work
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, heat, dust, and physically demanding environments
- Most job sites are within a local travel radius
