Security at VOA Spokane is relationship-based and trauma-informed. This means focusing on awareness, empathy, and early intervention—approaching each interaction with respect and a calm, steady presence.
Rather than simply responding to incidents, you play a key role in helping prevent them by building rapport, recognizing needs, and supporting a stable environment.
During evening and overnight shifts your ability to stay composed, make thoughtful decisions, and lead with professionalism and care is essential.
Requirements
Schedule (Set & Predictable)
Part-Time
- Monday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Thursday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Friday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
All shifts require staying awake, alert, and fully engaged.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain a safe environment for participants, staff, and property
- Conduct routine patrols and monitor security systems
- Respond to incidents using de-escalation and strong judgment
- Coordinate with emergency services when needed
- Write clear, accurate incident reports
- Maintain professional boundaries and respectful communication
What You Bring
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of security experience or comparable background (military, law enforcement, corrections, emergency response)
- Valid driver’s license with insurable record
- Ability to pass background checks
- Willingness to obtain CPR / First Aid / BBP certification
Preferred:
- Experience in behavioral health, shelter, housing, or crisis environments
- Strong report-writing skills
- De-escalation or crisis intervention training
