Description

Volunteers of America (VOA) is looking for a compassionate, organized Case Manager to support young mothers and their children through two of our DCYF-licensed transitional housing programs—Alexandria’s House and Aston Bleck Apartments.  These programs are designed to help young moms build safe, stable futures through housing, education, parenting support, and life-skills development in environments that promote growth, healing, and independence.

What the Role Involves


Case Managers provide individualized, holistic case management while supporting residents’ daily progress toward self-sufficiency. Core responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive case management services, including intake assessments, benefits screenings, goal setting, and long-term care planning
  • Meeting regularly with residents to support progress, address barriers, and reinforce accountability
  • Supporting residents in developing independent living and parenting skills, including budgeting, household management, and daily routines
  • Coordinating services with community partners, including DCYF, public health nurses, behavioral health providers, and housing resources
  • Identifying when residents may need additional supports such as mental health, substance use treatment, medical care, or financial education
  • Providing advocacy and referrals, and following up to ensure services are accessed successfully
  • Completing accurate, timely documentation and data entry to meet program, licensing, and Foundational Community Support (FCS) requirements
  • Participating in, staff meetings, and required trainings
  • Upholding VOA policies, professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and program expectations

This role requires strong written communication skills and consistent computer use, alongside regular in-person engagement with residents in a dynamic residential environment.



Schedule Details 

  •  A typical schedule is Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM,  with some flexibility to meet participant or program needs. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for resident support or program events. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule may also be required. 


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science or related field
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with families or high-risk populations

Certification and Compliance Requirements

Employees must be willing and able to:

  • Be eligible for Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) status and apply within 30 days of hire
  • Obtain CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) certifications within one week of employment
  • Hold a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and required auto insurance
  • Maintain a valid Food Handler’s Permit
  • Complete required TB testing, vaccinations, and background checks, including DCYF
  • Meet program licensing requirements, including being at least 21 years of age

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pregnant or parenting youth
