Volt is immediately hiring for a Trade Compliance and Logistics Specialist in Carlsbad, CA.
As a Trade Compliance and Logistics Specialist, you will:
- Manage daily import and export compliance activities to support uninterrupted supply chain operations
- Coordinate closely with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure smooth shipment clearance
- Review and validate shipping documentation including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists
- Classify materials and finished goods using HTS codes, ECCNs, and country-of-origin rules
- Ensure compliance with U.S. export and import regulations, including EAR, ITAR, and Customs requirements
- Support tariff mitigation initiatives, including trade agreement eligibility and duty-saving programs
- Maintain accurate records and conduct internal audits to ensure regulatory adherence
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions to minimize fines, delays, and disruptions
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders regarding trade compliance issues
- Collaborate with logistics, legal, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure compliant and on-time shipments
- Perform restricted party screening and support the maintenance of trade compliance policies and procedures
This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in international trade compliance, import/export operations, logistics, or customs brokerage
- Working knowledge of U.S. trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, and Customs requirements
- Experience with product classification (HTS, ECCN) and country-of-origin determinations
- Ability to review, interpret, and manage shipping and customs documentation
- Familiarity with ERP systems and trade compliance or global trade management software
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and discrepancies
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment
- Customs or export compliance certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, export compliance certification)
- Experience supporting audits or developing standard operating procedures
- Familiarity with free trade agreements such as USMCA
Pay Rate: $85,000 - $95,000 per year.
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
