Summary:
A trade compliance data analyst serves as an expert on all US import and export laws, ensure that all trades are done safely in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
This position is responsible for activities related to Rendering Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications. Submitting customs entry types on behalf of our customers, including reconciliation entries or post summary corrections. coordinate the operations within companies and organizations to ensure they are in compliance with local, federal, and state government regulations, managing and analyzing data, providing data-driven insights to support business operations, and assisting with business analysis. Day-to-day responsibilities include collecting, organizing, and maintaining data systems, analyzing trends, creating reports, and ensuring data accuracy to inform decision-making processes.
Qualifications

- Understanding all laws and regulations regarding the importation of goods, including USMCA, FCC, FDA, and US Customs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform data analysis and maintain compliance-related reports using advanced Excel functions (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and macros).
- Assist in preparing customs documentation and supporting the clearance process for imports.
- Manage operational databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date compliance records.
- Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key operational metrics.
- Support compliance audits by organizing and retrieving required documentation efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with Customs Brokers, Trade Compliance Analysts, and the Operations Team to ensure timely flow of goods.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation or Excel-based tools.
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive trade and customs data.
- Analyze large datasets of import/export transactions, identifying discrepancies, trends, and potential risks.
- Create and maintain dashboards to track compliance KPIs
- Manages comprehensive internal export controls to ensure compliance with U.S. foreign regulations in the conduct of international of supply chain and other business activities.
- Establishes and implements business plans for obtaining all necessary export and import licenses, permits, certifications, and technology release determinations.
- Assures that transactions comply with government regulations and internal procedures by conducting gate reviews for technical data and export and import data.
- Proficient in commodity jurisdiction and classification determination; and making determinations regarding applicability of exceptions and exemptions.
- Maintains applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
- Participates in training and audit assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Exercises good judgment to seek management support and guidance as needed, including collaborating on decisions that have the potential to be high visibility or impact.
- Develops and delivers reports and presentations as requested by the manager.
- Reviewing document and shipment holds for compliance requirements
- Advise and oversee process for tariff number (HTS) and export control classification (ECCN).
- Identify trade compliance issues related, but not limited to documentation, HTS classification, country of origin, Valuation, FDA, PSC, Entry reconciliation, and CTPAT.
- Perform Free Trade Agreement analysis (e.g., USMCA. CAFTA) Certificates of Origin in compliance with applicable regulations, including the coordination of all files and certificates in accordance with company policy.
- Prepare periodic compliance reports, including analyzing ITRAC and ACE trade data. Compile, review, and prepare global trade key performance indicators (KPIs).
