Volt is immediately hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer in San Diego, CA.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Develop, improve, and document CNC manufacturing processes for new and existing products
- Create and maintain machining workflows using CAD and CAM systems
- Support multi-axis CNC machining operations, including 4-axis and 5-axis equipment
- Analyze and optimize cycle times to improve throughput, reduce costs, and maximize spindle utilization
- Provide technical support to CNC programmers, machinists, and production personnel
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and inspection consistency
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production and dimensional issues
- Support tooling selection, fixture design, and process validation
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and process reliability
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues
This is full time, direct hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in a CNC machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CAD software for part review, fixtures, and process planning
- Hands-on CAM programming experience for CNC machining operations
- Experience supporting or programming multi-axis CNC machines (4-axis and 5-axis)
- Strong understanding of cycle time optimization and process efficiency
- Working knowledge of GD&T and geometric dimensioning principles
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with high-mix, low- to mid-volume manufacturing
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience supporting complex parts with tight tolerances
- Exposure to aerospace, defense, medical, or precision industrial machining environments
Pay Rate: $100,000 - $120,000 per year.
