The Village of Glendale Heights is seeking one Community Service Officer within the Police Department. The Community Service Officer is responsible for the following duties:
- Responds to requests to enforce animal control ordinances including issuance of tickets when necessary. Picks up stray dogs and is responsible for maintenance of the Animal Pound.
- Enforces the ordinances of the Village as specified by the Chief of Police. (Generally speaking this does not include traffic and misdemeanor type ordinances).
- Follows up in instances of ordinance violations to assure ordinance violations are corrected in a timely fashion including referrals to Community Development for more complex violations.
- Provides information to persons who request information or assistance in property maintenance related matters.
- Investigates private property motor vehicle crash reports.
- Assists motorists or homeowners that have locked themselves out of their home or vehicle.
- Provides traffic control (e.g. traffic accident sites, emergencies, signal outages) including assisting in school crossings.
- Coordinates scheduling of vehicle and equipment repairs and routine service with other Village departments and contracted service providers.
- Required to appear in traffic court or adjudicatory hearings as required.
- Undertakes limited community oriented police work, and assists citizens with such matters as locked or stalled vehicles, crime prevention, found or lost property, drug abuse resistance education (DARE), traffic safety, traffic direction, crossing guard, etc.
- Assist with evidence duties as assigned.
- Performs matron duties, e.g. search of female prisoners, etc., including assist in transports and testimony in court when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary : $27 - $37
