About the Role
Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Rehabilitation Services team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on restoring function, improving mobility, and enhancing overall quality of life.
As part of our community-owned, nonprofit healthcare system, you will play a vital role in helping patients recover from injury, illness, or disability while supporting their journey toward independence and optimal performance.
What You’ll Do
- Administer physical therapy treatments and modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist
- Assist patients in improving mobility, strength, and functional independence
- Observe and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist
- Support development and implementation of individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients and families on exercises, safety, and home care techniques
- Ensure safe, clean, and organized treatment environments
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with hospital standards
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives (CQI)
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current PTA licensure/certification (Texas or eligible)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, anatomy, and rehabilitation techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a hospital or clinical rehabilitation setting
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish preferred)
- Experience working with diverse patient populations (pediatric through geriatric)
