About the Role
Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our Rural Health Clinic team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping ensure a seamless and positive experience from check-in through scheduling and follow-up.
As a community-owned, nonprofit hospital, VVRMC is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care close to home. This position plays a critical role in supporting clinic operations by ensuring accurate patient information, efficient scheduling, and excellent customer service.
What You’ll Do
- Register and pre-register patients for clinic visits, procedures, and services
- Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and obtain required authorizations
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other patient payments accurately
- Interview patients or their representatives to obtain and verify personal, insurance, and emergency contact information
- Obtain required signatures (e.g., Conditions of Admission) and initiate advance directive processes when applicable
- Educate patients on clinic policies, billing procedures, patient rights, and HIPAA guidelines
- Maintain and update patient records and medical documentation in the system
- Coordinate with providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to support patient care
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Ensure patient valuables are secured appropriately when necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment
- Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of customer service experience (healthcare setting preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and word processing
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
