Description
Academic Success Coaches are current students who demonstrate a mastery of the holistic elements of academic success. Academic Success Coaches help students identify barriers to academic success and assist them in creating action plans for overcoming those challenges. Academic Success Coaches help their assigned students to maximize their potential for academic success by supporting them holistically and by assisting them in gaining effective study strategies and behaviors.
Examples of Duties
Duties Include:
- Work collaboratively with their assigned Academic Success Advisors to coordinate/implement the proactive advising model, respond to academic alerts, manage cases, and assist with other caseload campaigns and interventions
- Work one-on-one with students to identify and overcome barriers to their academic success
- Assess students’ current practices and make suggestions for improvement
- Provide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors, including academic, financial and socio-emotional
- Utilize and interpret various assessment tools develop and employ interpersonal communication skills including: face-to-face communication, email etiquette, and service referral strategies
- Assist in the design and facilitation of academic success workshops, interventions and programs aimed at facilitating success in college
- Generate reports and utilize data to discern patterns of success/difficulty and design strategic interventions
- Demonstrate effective academic success strategies and provide accountability partnerships
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Attention to detail
- Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal
- Knowledge of a University environment preferred
- Human Relations/Interpersonal skills
- Leadership skills

- Class Management Software
Supplemental Information
Working Hours:
- Monday though Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM based on availability
- 20 hours per week
Special Instructions:

Part-time benefits-eligible positions: Benefits include generous education assistance for the employee.
Temporary, adjunct, student employment, or graduate assistant positions: Benefits are not included.
