United Trades of America is actively seeking qualified and experienced Journeyman Gas Fitters to join our growing team in Athens, Alabama. We are specifically looking for individuals who hold an active Alabama Journeyman Gas Fitter license. Candidates with a Plumber/Gas Fitter combination license are welcome to apply, provided they meet all gas fitting requirements. Applicants who are licensed solely as plumbers without gas fitting credentials will not be considered for this position.
About the Role
As a Journeyman Gas Fitter with United Trades of America, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing natural gas systems in residential and commercial environments. You will work independently and alongside a team to ensure safe and efficient service while adhering to all local and state building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and repair natural gas lines, regulators, meters, and associated equipment.
- Interpret and work from construction blueprints, specifications, and gas codes.
- Perform pressure tests and leak checks on installed gas systems.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds applicable safety and building code requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Accurately complete job documentation and time records.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must possess a valid Alabama Journeyman Gas Fitter license (Plumber/Gas Fitter license acceptable if it includes gas fitting).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Must supply your own tools and standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrated knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety procedures used in the gas trade.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications and typically ranges from $25 to $38 per hour.
