Interns work part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer for approximately 6 months. This is an excellent opportunity to learn precision machining and manufacturing processes in a professional setting.
What You'll Do
As a CNC Machinist Intern, you will:
- Set up and operate machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair mechanical components using knowledge of mechanics, shop math, and machining procedures.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision instruments (micrometers, Vernier calipers).
- Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Maintain and update manufacturing software per work order specifications.
- Inspect and test completed units for quality and accuracy.
- Keep machines and work areas clean, safe, and organized.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a technical or vocational program.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.
- Strong understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and shop math.
- Familiarity with basic manufacturing software.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Good physical stamina and strength.
