- The primary responsibility of a CNC Machinist is to support production operations by performing low to moderate machining operations, operating one or more types of machine tools such as mills, drill presses, lathes, etc.
- Sets up basic tooling, write and execute basic programs.
- Sets up, operates and programs a broad range of production work involving close tolerance and set ups that are exacting that are somewhat involved and have a low to moderate degree of difficulty.
- Reads and interprets specific machining instructions from blueprints, part and machine drawings.
- Key Job Duties:
- Performs other secondary operations such as stamping part numbers and deburring during machine cycle times.
- Performs routine maintenance.
- Assists in other areas and performs additional tasks as needed.
- Participates in and contributes to Massman’s lean manufacturing journey.
- Inspects machine parts to ensure they meet proper size, shape, or tolerance specs using micrometers and other measuring tools and devices.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Technical Degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Able to problem solving, have good mechanical aptitude, and able to learn and
- understand job methods and instructions in a timely manner
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes preferred
- 2-3 years of relevant machining experience can be substituted for Technical Degree
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
