A Research Specialist position is available in Puri Lab in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM). The research focus is to study the signaling mechanisms that contribute to the pathogenesis of precancerous lesions in the
Essential Job Duties
- Remain involved in all aspects of the projects.
- Manage the mouse colony to performing experiments using a wide variety of molecular biology techniques.
- Mouse husbandry, handling of transgenic and knockout mouse models immunohistochemistry, microscopy and other cell and molecular biology technique-based experience as directed by the principal investigator.
- Participate in laboratory activities ordering of supplies and maintenance of inventory.
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.
- Maintain records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
- Assists in writing manuscripts, conference presentations and grant applications.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’ s of science in Biology or related field is required.
- (Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science or PhD degree in Biology or related field)
Physical Demands
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
Ability to view a computer terminal
Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques—including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and quantitative PCR . Strong experience with transgenic mouse models, laboratory animal handling, and colony management is essential.
