Job Summary
The Program Manager for Rural Development and Prosperity will organize rural development Extension and Educational programs in the Southeast and surrounding regions. This employment includes but is not limited to working with academic institutions, corporations, faith-based and other organizations. This position will work with and involve faculty, staff and students involved in the Center for Farming/Food Systems, Rural Prosperity, and Economic Sustainability (CFSRPES) and the Carver Integrative Sustainability Center (CISC) to develop premier programming primarily in the areas of Rural Development and Prosperity in areas based on program and clientele need as determined by the Center Director and Co-Directors. The person hired for this position must have considerable experience with small businesses and/or community development, as well as a
proven record of accomplishments working with diverse clients. This position requires extensive travel and will be based in a station.
Essential Job Duties
- Participate in meetings and conferences at the local, regional, national, and international levels as requested/approved by the Director and/or Co-Directors.
- Provide leadership in planning, monitoring, and evaluation of CFSRPES and related programs in Rural Prosperity.
- Provide information and support to the local communities as it relates to Rural Development and Prosperity program development, implementation, and assessment.
- Develop Tuskegee University and Regional/National partnerships to provide more impact in Rural Development and Prosperity.
- Provide facilitative leadership in the evaluation of CFSRPES and CISC programs related to Rural Development and Prosperity.
- Provide technical assistance to CFSRPES and CISC colleagues in program design, curriculum development, online resources, evaluation planning and design, and data collection and analysis methods.
- Conduct evaluations for multiple purposes and audiences on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in developing and providing various professional development experiences in Rural Development and Prosperity as they relate to the goals of the CFSRPES and CISC.
- Assist in the development and submission of grant proposals consistent with and in support of CFSRPES’s and CISC’s mission.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Management, Policy, or a closely related field with noted experience in participatory research or community-based initiatives to include grant writing and program evaluation.
- Familiarity with Tuskegee University’s land-grant mission and Cooperative Extension model.
- Proficiency in digital tools for outreach and education.

- Working knowledge of various computer software, such as Microsoft Office
