Job Summary
The Assistant Soccer Coach supports-the Head Coach in all phases of the intercollegiate soccer program, with a focus on training, recruiting, and student-athlete development.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist in planning and conducting practice sessions and game strategies.
- Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes consistent with institutional standards.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and well-being.
- Manage administrative duties including travel logistics, equipment, and compliance paperwork.
- Coordinate video analysis, scouting reports, and statistical tracking.
- Support community engagement and fundraising activities. Serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Master’s preferred.
- Experience coaching soccer at the collegiate, club, or high school level.
- CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of collegiate coaching or elite club-level coaching experience.
- Previous playing experience at the collegiate or professional level. Experience assisting with recruiting. scouting, and student-athlete development.
Physical Demands
- Ability to demonstrate soccer techniques, drills, movements, and conditioning exercises to student-athletes.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, and move freely on uneven outdoor surfaces for extended periods during practices and games.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment such as soccer balls, training cones, goals, water coolers, and medical kits weighing up to 35—50 lbs.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary to observe student-athlete performance, identify safety hazards. and communicate effectively during practices and competitions.
Skills and Attributes
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules.
- Knowledge of Title IX as it applies to athletics programming.
Skills:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability:
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and ethical coaching standards.
- Ability to travel with teams, which may involve prolonged sitting, walking through airports and venues, and carrying luggage.
- Must maintain physical stamina to conduct multi-hour practices, participate in training sessions, and stand on sidelines for extended periods.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical exertion in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
