A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Miami is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead and strengthen the full HR function. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior HR leader who enjoys building structure, advising leadership, improving processes, and supporting an organization with meaningful community impact.

This role is ideal for someone who has worked in large, complex organizations and can operate as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on HR leader. The Human Resources Director will oversee employee relations, compliance, payroll and benefits coordination, performance management, compensation programs, HR operations, documentation standards, and HR vendor/PEO partnerships.

The organization is especially seeking someone with strong expertise in employee documentation for senior leadership-level roles, including sensitive performance matters, corrective action, executive-level personnel records, compensation/title changes, investigations, and confidential HR documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR function and serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, managers, and employees across employee relations, compliance, performance management, compensation, payroll, benefits, HR operations, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance concerns, corrective action, accommodations, leave matters, conflicts, separations, and manager coaching.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate, confidential, and executive-ready HR documentation for senior leadership-level roles and sensitive employment matters.
  • Strengthen HR policies, procedures, employee communications, documentation standards, compliance practices, and recordkeeping processes.
  • Manage the PEO and/or HR vendor relationship, including payroll, benefits, HRIS, compliance support, service delivery, escalations, renewals, and process improvement.
  • Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee changes, deductions, retro pay, garnishments, year-end support, and HR-related reconciliation.
  • Lead compensation and performance management processes, including salary recommendations, benchmarking, internal equity, job structure, merit cycles, review timelines, calibration, and documentation.
  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, role clarity, employee engagement, retention, change management, and HR reporting.
  • Develop and deliver HR training for managers and employees, including compliance, documentation, onboarding, performance management, and leadership support topics.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity, confidential employee files, onboarding/offboarding workflows, org charts, position control, HR metrics, and employee records.
  • Partner with leadership on workplace safety, incident response, risk mitigation, data privacy, and confidential HR matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required. Equivalent senior-level HR experience may be considered.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within large, complex organizations.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including investigations, performance management, corrective action, documentation, and manager coaching.
  • Advanced experience preparing employee documentation for senior leadership-level roles and confidential employment matters.
  • Experience managing or partnering with a PEO, payroll provider, HRIS platform, benefits broker, or external HR vendor.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment regulations and HR compliance practices.
  • Experience designing and delivering manager training, documentation training, or compliance training preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation from $135,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Excellent benefits package, with details to be confirmed during the process.
  • Opportunity to join a mission-driven organization with meaningful community impact.
  • Highly visible HR leadership role with the ability to strengthen culture, compliance, documentation, leadership support, and HR operations.
