Trustpoint.One is pleased to partner with a prestigious plaintiff’s catastrophic injury law firm in Philadelphia in their search for a highly skilled Civil Litigation Legal Assistant. This is a fully onsite role.
Civil Litigation Legal Assistant (5–10 Years’ Experience Required)
Anticipated Start Date: December 1, 2025 (or just after Thanksgiving)
A senior trial attorney/partner seeks an experienced Civil Litigation Legal Assistant to join a busy practice focused primarily on medical malpractice cases litigated in Pennsylvania (with some New Jersey matters). This position offers the chance to step into a critical support role as the current Legal Assistant retires after a long tenure with the firm. For the right candidate, there may be future advancement potential to a paralegal role.
Qualifications of the Legal Assistant:
- Experience: 5–10 years as a legal assistant in civil litigation (medical malpractice preferred).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Pennsylvania civil procedure and Philadelphia court rules/filing procedures; New Jersey filing experience a plus.
- Skills:
- Highly organized, able to manage 20 active litigation files and additional suspense files.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Case management and calendaring proficiency (Microsoft Word and Outlook).
- Ability to handle deadlines, trial preparation, and multitasking with precision.
- Personal Attributes: Motivated, mature, diligent, loyal, and a team player who values integrity and growth.
Key Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
- Support senior litigation partner (and at times, a second partner) in all phases of litigation.
- Handle initial client intakes and case setup in electronic filing systems.
- Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial materials (e.g., Motions in Limine, Pretrial Conference Memoranda, Jury Instructions).
- Track and schedule depositions, discovery deadlines, expert reports, and court events.
- Maintain organized electronic and hard files for approximately 20 active litigation cases.
- Communicate with clients, medical experts, and opposing counsel.
- Collaborate closely with a senior paralegal (30 years of experience) as part of the litigation team.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $65,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience.
- Bonus: bonus opportunities.
