Senior Manager of Tax
This position works on a diversified real estate portfolio that includes properties in all phases of development, a financial investment portfolio, and investments in sports entities. There is tax work on S Corporations, C Corporations, trusts, and individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual Income Taxes
- Supervision of income tax return preparation and review
- Collection of information to project extension payments
- Collection of information to project and adjust quarterly estimates
- Prepare Gen 1 & Gen 2 tax returns
- Prepare Gen 3 tax returns
- Collection of documents needed for return compliance
- Analyze returns for split of income taxes between company and personal estimated and final
- Coordinate with EY on any planning or questions for G3
Trusts
- Prepare taxed for all trusts
- Project taxable income for extensions
- Collection of information to project and adjust quarterly estimates of trusts
Private Equity
- Track taxable income throughout year
- Project taxable income for extensions
- Responsible for tax accounting of all Private Equity returns
- Coordination of return preparation with EY
Gift tax returns
- Responsible for preparation of Gen1 and Gen 3 gift returns
- Review of Gen 3 gift returns
- Manage tax notices received by any taxpayer
- Provide personal financial work as needed such as loan applications and PE filings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage the tax staff to execute their responsibilities
- Recruits and hires staff and conducts performance reviews
- Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs of current staff
- Execute other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, degree in Taxation a plus.
- 7 years of public accounting or a combination of education and experience
Required Skills and Abilities
- Partnership tax experience, preferably real estate.
- Trust Accounting, Private Equity, and/or State Income Tax experience
Supervisory experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
- Experience with advanced client workpaper preparation and management preferred, preferably in CCH workpaper management/engagement and Axcess software
- Experience with advanced client workpaper preparation and management a plus
- Knowledge of Yardi general ledger software a plus
Licenses or Certifications
- CPA - highly preferred
Salary : $145,000 - $180,000
