Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all facility and equipment maintenance activities for an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal operation of production equipment, buildings, utilities, and environmental systems while maintaining compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards
Primary Duties
Maintenance Management
Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production and support equipment (CNC machines, autoclaves, compressors, etc.).
Ensure minimum downtime and maximum equipment reliability to support 24/7 production operations.
Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history in CMMS or equivalent system.
Facilities Operations
Oversee the upkeep of the manufacturing plant, offices, and grounds including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and other facility systems.
Manage relationships with contractors, service providers, and utilities.
Establish and enforce building and safety standards consistent with aerospace industry regulations.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all facility and equipment operations comply with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local building codes.
Support EHS programs, audits, and risk assessments; drive continuous improvements in safety and environmental performance.
Maintain documentation required under AS9100 and other aerospace quality management systems.
Budgeting & Planning
Develop and manage departmental budgets, including cost forecasting for repairs, upgrades, and capital expenditure projects.
Evaluate and recommend investments in new technologies, equipment, and energy efficiency projects.
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise maintenance technicians, custodial, and facilities staff.
Provide training, set performance standards, and foster a culture of ownership, safety, and reliability.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts with production, engineering, quality, and EHS teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.
7–10 years of experience in facilities or maintenance management within an aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing preventive maintenance programs and large-scale facility operations.
Strong knowledge of aerospace quality systems (AS9100 or equivalent) and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Experience with 5s.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Relevant Field
Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and Project Management software
Prefer experience in aerospace and/or machining environments
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Ability to move through facility and up and down stairs
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
