Financial Controller

We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations while building toward full ownership of the finance function. This role is ideal for a strong Accounting Manager ready to step up into a Controller title, with the opportunity to grow into broader financial leadership as the company scales.

You will partner closely with leadership and external advisors to ensure accurate financials, strong controls, and improved visibility into performance and cash flow. This role is critical to improving financial accuracy, strengthening controls, and building the foundation for scalable growth. You will play a key role in giving leadership confidence in the numbers while helping evolve the finance function over time.

Accounting Operations

• Oversee daily accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and payroll support
• Maintain accurate and complete financial records within the company’s ERP system
• Ensure transactions are properly coded, documented, and audit-ready
• Manage vendor setup, invoicing workflows, and financial recordkeeping
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

Billing, AR & Collections

• Oversee client invoicing and ensure accuracy across services and billing structures
• Manage billing adjustments, credit memos, and refunds
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and drive collection efforts
• Partner with internal teams to resolve billing issues and improve turnaround times
• Proactively identify risks and trends impacting revenue and cash flow

Cash Management

• Monitor daily cash position, including inflows and outflows
• Execute payments (ACH, wires, checks) within established controls
• Maintain organized banking records and documentation
• Support development of cash forecasting and forward-looking visibility

Payroll & Cross-Functional Support

• Oversee payroll processing, including changes, bonuses, and deductions
• Partner with HR to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Support benefits-related reporting as needed

Month-End Close & External Partnership

• Own and continuously improve the month-end close process
• Partner with external CPAs on reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements
• Support audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements

Reporting & Leadership Support

• Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and analysis
• Support leadership with insights to inform decision-making
• Begin expanding from reporting to more forward-looking financial visibility

Systems, Controls & Scalability

• Strengthen internal controls and reduce operational risk
• Document and improve accounting processes and SOPs
• Identify opportunities for automation and system improvements
• Help build a more scalable, process-driven finance function

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Strong foundation in AR/AP, billing, and cash management
• Experience supporting or participating in month-end close
• High attention to detail and strong organizational discipline

Preferred Experience

• Professional services or project-based billing environments
• Experience working with external CPAs
• Exposure to cash forecasting or financial reporting
• Background in a high-growth or scaling company
