Role: Shop Manager
Schedule: Mon - Fri
Location: Lombard, IL
Core Responsibilities
1. Crew Readiness & Material Control
- Ensure all crew carts are fully stocked daily for next-day production
- Verify correct materials per job (coatings, flake, poly kits, tools, consumables)
- Maintain standardized crew loadout checklists
- Coordinate with Production/Admin to align materials with scheduled jobs
- Identify shortages proactively and escalate before impacting production
- Comfortable conducting service calls and repairs as needed
2. Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate weekly inventory counts (consumables, coatings, equipment)
- Perform monthly full inventory audits with reporting
- Manage reclaim materials process using checklist system
- Track usage trends and flag waste, shrinkage, or inefficiencies
- Maintain clean, organized, labeled storage systems (no guesswork)
3. Equipment & Shop Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance of:
- Propane grinders
- Electric grinders
- HEPA vacuums (e.g., 3-motor systems)
- Generators
- Implement and enforce preventative maintenance schedules
- Maintain maintenance logs for all equipment
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate repairs/replacements
- Ensure all equipment is job-ready at all times
4. Fleet Management
- Monitor condition of all crew vehicles and trailers
- Schedule and track routine maintenance (oil, tires, brakes, etc.)
- Act as point of contact for emergency vehicle issues
- Conduct regular vehicle condition inspections
- Ensure vehicles are clean, organized, and stocked to standard
5. Safety Program Oversight
- Enforce Torq Coatings safety standards and protocols
- Monitor PPE compliance and availability
- Conduct routine safety checks and audits
- Maintain safety documentation and incident logs
- Partner with leadership to continuously improve safety practices
6. Deliveries & Vendor Coordination
- Receive and inspect all incoming deliveries
- Verify accuracy against purchase orders
- Organize and store materials properly upon arrival
- Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Coordinate returns or discrepancies as needed
7. Shop Organization & Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop environment
- Implement and enforce shop systems (labeling, storage, flow)
- Ensure all tools and materials have designated locations
- Eliminate inefficiencies and downtime caused by disorganization
8. Administrative & Support Functions
- Maintain logs, checklists, and reporting systems
- Support operations team with material planning and logistics
- Assist with job preparation workflows when needed
- Perform general facility upkeep and minor repairs

Qualifications
- 3 years in operations, warehouse, or shop management (construction preferred)
- Strong organizational and systems mindset
- Mechanical aptitude (equipment maintenance understanding)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong accountability and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license
