What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at The Sterling Choice?
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a world-class producer of yeast-based flavors and specialty nutritional powders.
Our client is a key player within a massive $17bn international conglomerate (a portfolio that includes some of the world’s most recognizable household brands). While the parent group provides immense financial backing and a long-term investment perspective, they operate with a "High Autonomy" model. Decisions are made at the local level, allowing you the freedom to act quickly, innovate, and see your projects come to life without being slowed down by global "red tape."
The Role: Subject Matter Expert (SME)
This is a pivotal role responsible for the design, reliability, and evolution of the facility’s power, controls, and automation systems. You aren't just maintaining equipment; you are shaping the future of the plant's technological infrastructure.
Key Impact Areas:
- Innovation & Capital Projects: Act as the lead voice for electrical and automation systems in all future site investments and process upgrades.
- Systems Mastery: Manage and optimize PLC logic, networks, and control hardware to ensure 100% reliability and combat equipment obsolescence.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the "tier-three" support for complex faults in automation and measurement technologies.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead energy efficiency initiatives (ISO 50.001) and modernize electrotechnical infrastructure to drive performance.
- Strategic Leadership: Manage 3rd-party contractors, lead risk assessments, and train maintenance/operations teams to elevate the site’s collective technical skill set.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a self-starter who balances technical brilliance with a "production-first" mindset.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience: 3–5 years in a dedicated Electrical Engineering role, with at least 3 years specifically within an industrial food or biotech plant environment.
- Technical Breadth: Strong background in power distribution, automation software, and control systems.
- DNA: You are a critical thinker who thrives on complex problem-solving and can manage changing priorities independently.
Why Apply?
- Total Ownership: You will be the go-to authority for all electrical systems on-site.
- Investment Mentality: The parent group takes a "long-term" view on performance, meaning they invest in quality equipment and people.
- Global Mobility: Being part of a massive international group opens doors to career paths across a diverse range of industries and geographies.
- Values-First Culture: Join a team that prioritizes safety, sustainability, and a welcoming, diverse workplace.
