The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a full-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Food Services Manager.

Proposed Schedule Includes:

8-hour shifts beginning between 5:30am - 10:30am (TBD)

Potential for weekends (additional $2.00/hour)

Summary:

Plans, develops and manages all work procedures of dietary services within the New Hampshire Veterans Home, ensuring compliance with regulatory state and federal standards, and agency policies and procedures. Coordinates with internal agency staff and external stakeholders to integrate the food service program into agency activities, functions, and special events.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after completion of high school in Business Management, Food Service Management or Culinary Arts with experience in Institutional Food Management including supervisory experience.

License/Certification:

1. Must be a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) from the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.

2. Must possess ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association and Certified Food Protection Professional.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business management, food service management, culinary arts, or a related field. Four years’ experience in institutional food service, plus three years of supervisory experience in any occupational area.

Responsibilities:

DETAILED TASKS (STANDARD):

Supervises food service and dietary staff, including interviewing, hiring and firing, training, motivating, and managing performance.

Oversee the scheduling of staffing for daily needs, to include providing service to ten resident dining areas, and special events. Ensure proper coverage and delivery of service.

Creates and maintains a safe and healthy working environment including storage of all products, repairs of equipment and safe meal preparation under the ServSafe guidelines. Monitors employees' work to ensure compliance with quality standards and addresses deficiencies as they occur.

Performs complete and timely ordering of food, supplies and equipment to provide food services for resident meals, events and functions, and the staff meal purchase program. Ensures sufficient inventory and supply levels are maintained according to agency standards.

Manage the dietary budget and ensure purchases stay within the allotted budget. Prepares reports related to expenditure and performance and presents to administrators for use in long-term planning and budgeting.

Coordinates with Recreation Department staff and external stakeholders, such as members of military and government organizations, to plan, organize and direct regular and special occasion resident/agency functions to engage residents, families and guests, ranging in size, food service offerings, and staff resource requirements.

Continually monitors and evaluates the food service product and delivery system and maintains responsiveness to facility needs. Analyzes, formulates and/or revises policies and procedures to align facility performance with up-to-date industry best practices, to include those related to health, sanitation, infection control, and safety.

Complete all menu planning with staff and resident input and consults with residents and families to ensure nutritional needs are met through the provision of well-balanced diet.

Receives, investigates and responds to residents’ concerns and collaborates with the nursing staff and social workers to resolve any dietary concerns/complaints.

Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and on agency groups to enhance inter-department communication and collaboration, such as the Safety Committee and resident/employee food committee.
