Assistant Controller - Hospitality & Vacation Rentals

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of a growing vacation rental and hospitality management organization. This is a fully remote opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong financial reporting, accounting operations, and process improvement skills.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of multi-entity accounting, financial controls, month-end close, and financial reporting, preferably within vacation rentals, hospitality, property management, real estate, or a similarly complex business environment. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to maintain accurate financial records, strengthen accounting processes, and support the organization's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting operations and financial oversight
• Oversee and coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial variance analysis
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other core accounting functions
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
• Support multi-entity accounting and consolidated financial reporting, as applicable
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
• Assist with audits, tax preparation coordination, and financial documentation
• Collaborate with operations and leadership to provide meaningful financial insights
• Help establish scalable accounting processes to support business growth

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting professional
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and internal controls
• Background in vacation rentals, hospitality, property management, real estate, or multi-entity businesses preferred
• Experience managing complex accounting workflows and multiple reporting entities
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with accounting software, financial reporting systems, and Excel
• Ability to identify process improvements and strengthen accounting controls
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and senior leadership
• East Coast time zone preferred to support business operations
