Position Overview
As our Human Resources Generalist, you will be a vital team member providing comprehensive HR programmatic and operational support across the agency. You will serve as a key point of contact for staff regarding staffing, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and development initiatives. Working closely with the HR Manager, you will ensure our HR practices are top-tier, innovative, and aligned with organizational goals.
What you will do
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers, supervisors, and staff on a wide range of HR issues, including employee relations, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation.
- Administer and coordinate benefits programs, employee compensation, and HRIS systems (including ADP/WFN), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead the recruitment process from requisition initiation to onboarding, sourcing, interviewing, and extending offers.
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee training and development programs, including safety and management training.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, HIPAA, etc.) and organizational policies.
- Manage employee files, conduct audits, and ensure documentation meets all legal and organizational standards.
- Investigate employee complaints, health and injury claims, and conduct exit interviews.
- Facilitate performance management processes, including evaluations and professional development planning.
- Prepare and analyze HR reports, data, and metrics to inform decision-making and ensure continuous improvement.
- Support special projects such as Worker’s Compensation, unemployment claims, and ensuring a safe work environment.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; PHR certification is a plus.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a nonprofit or governmental setting.
- Proficiency with ADP/WFN and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and a team player with high integrity and professionalism.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
