A Research Institution is seeking a contract to potential hire Staff Assistant role to provide administrative and operational support within a fast-paced engineering department. This is a fully onsite role offering the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research at a renowned institution.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate procurement activities, identify suppliers, obtain quotes, generate requisitions, and track orders.
- Manage travel logistics in compliance with federal travel regulations.
- Support complex timekeeping and assist with sponsored/invitational travel and honoraria.
- Maintain property tracking systems and departmental records.
- Provide general administrative support to staff and management.
- Assist the CE Manager and Program Management Office with outreach and project coordination.
- Update and maintain internal website content.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years post-secondary education; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and web-based research tools.
- Ability to learn purchasing and government travel systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, judgment, and discretion with confidential information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in an engineering, scientific, or R&D environment preferred.
- Must be a U.S. person due to occasional proximity to export-controlled materials.
Compensation: $33.00/hr (convert to higher going permanent)
