This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy of complex filings, financial proofs, and transcripts. About the Role
Comprehensive Review: Perform "cold" and "full" reads of handwritten, word-processed, or printed documents against masters to ensure flawless transcription, grammar, and sense.
Responsibilities
- Technical Proofing: Conduct specialized checks for financial printer proofs, defined terms, and cross-references.
- Document Mark-up: Execute manual redlining, blacklining, and cumulative blacklining.
- Digital Integration: Use Adobe annotating tools to mark PDFs and create digital mark-ups using E-copy.
- Multi-Media Support: Proofread audio and video transcriptions for accuracy.
- Workflow Coordination: Monitor incoming email requests and maintain constant communication with the Workflow Coordinator and requestors to resolve queries.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of dedicated proofreading experience within a law firm environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Flexibility: Ability to cover alternative shifts when necessary to support team objectives.
Required Skills
- Legal Expertise: Proficiency in Black’s Law Dictionary, citation books, and current Bluebook formatting guidelines.
- Industry Standards: Thorough knowledge of professional proofreading procedures and symbols.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Soft Skills: Strong customer service orientation, a collaborative team-player mentality, and extreme resourcefulness under tight deadlines.
Pay range and compensation package
Compensation: Up to $77,000
