Bookkeeper

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining precise financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP. This role is essential in providing reliable financial information that informs strategic decision-making and maintains organizational integrity. The successful applicant will bring expertise in various accounting software platforms, and ideally have a inventory background.

Responsibilities:

• Accounts payable such as deposits and opening of new accounts
• Account reconciliation
• Banking
• Monthly P&L
• Quarterly balance sheet inventory levels in all locations
• Payroll (weekly) – new hire setup in system
• Sales tax
• Insurance: working with the broker on all matters, including workers compensation
• Year-end accountant communication
• Item costing
• Analyze how inventory levels justify sales
• Communicate with marketing regarding general budgets (photo shoots, digital, print advertising)
• After each season, show what was invested and the profit from a financial standpoint
• Wholesale billing
• Legal coordination
• Leases: renewing retail space.
• Establishing DBAs (done business as) for new companies.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within corporate or inventory based.
• Proven proficiency with accounting software.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with governmental accounting practices and tax preparation is preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll systems and tax regulations relevant to payroll processing.
• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial report writing.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
