Overview:
The Axel Group is seeking a Senior Estimator for our client's team. This company has over 20 years of experience in quality asphalt paving and roadway construction across Florida. They are looking for dedicated professionals to join their estimating and preconstruction team in Bradenton.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for asphalt paving, roadway, and infrastructure projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope, materials, and labor requirements.
- Perform takeoffs, solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, and develop competitive proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and leadership to develop winning bids.
- Review historical data to improve pricing accuracy and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, clients, and industry partners.
- (Senior Estimator only) Lead the estimating team, mentor junior estimators, oversee complex bids, and contribute to strategic pricing, forecasting, and business development.
- Manage bid reviews and coordinate project turnovers.
Requirements:
- 7 years of asphalt paving or heavy civil estimating experience, with strong knowledge of FDOT projects, sitework, and roadway construction.
- Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating tools.
- Understanding of paving processes, materials, and FDOT specifications.
- Proven success in bid wins and profitability management.
