Overview
Responsible for ensuring that the in-process machined parts meet or exceed the minimum established quality levels. This position is also responsible for ensuring procedures are followed, resolving quality related issues with our customers and employees, the generation of reports, the tracking of data, and the recommendation of process improvements in a fast-paced environment by performing the following duties.

- Verifies dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), Faro Arm, or other specialized measuring instruments.
- Performs tests such as hardness and conductivity.
- Ensures that instruments used for product acceptance are in calibration prior to use.
- Reports deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.
- Maintains inspection records and completes inspection reports.
- Leads internal quality team in timely and efficient decision making.
- Demonstrates the ability to organize and strategically implement process improvements by working together with management.
- Sets schedules of daily work flow when manager is out of office.
- Ensures all areas are covered and have adequate support when manager is out of office.
Qualifications
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training:
- CMM operation and/or machine shop inspection
- Blueprint reading and interpretation
- GD&T experience
- NCR creation
- Each employee will be trained to perform Rockwell and Conductivity prior to physically beginning work in inspection
- Each employee will be trained on FAI’s
- Each employee will be trained on NCR’s system
Equipment:
- Rockwell hardness and conductivity equipment
- Height gages and precision measuring equipment
- Eye and hearing protection may be necessary while working on the shop floor
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
- Three to five years’ experience in a precision sheet metal, machine job shop environment or equivalent
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the calibration and use of dimensional measuring equipment
- Must be capable of performing First Article Inspection measurements, ascertaining the compliance of parts meeting the print requirements, detail oriented, and quick to make decisions
- Experience with ISO 9000 and SPC is a plus
- Must understand quality as it relates to total customer service philosophy
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and MRP systems

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a shop environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
