Role Details

Test Engineer II responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing component and subassembly test campaigns for a heavy‑lift launch vehicle. Drives test development from fabrication to delivery while ensuring safety, quality, and throughput. Works closely with design, operations, and technicians to deliver reliable hardware for human spaceflight.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute component and subassembly test campaigns across mechanical, hydraulic, cryogenic, and pneumatic systems
- Develop and author detailed test procedures
- Conduct test readiness reviews and pre‑test briefings
- Analyze test data and verify campaign success
- Collaborate with design engineers to define test requirements
- Coordinate with operations engineers to integrate tests into test stands
- Select and configure test fixtures, support equipment, and data acquisition systems
- Design and procure necessary tooling and equipment
- Drive testing efficiency improvements while maintaining safety and quality
Qualifications
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 3 years of experience in component testing and data analysis
- Strong work ethic with high attention to detail and organization
- Strong written, personal, and computer skills; ability to communicate at executive and shop floor levels
- Successfully managed simultaneous project schedules
- Passion for spaceflight and space exploration
Preferred Skills
- 5 years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas)
- Demonstrated technical expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, actuated, and/or hydraulic systems
- Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo‑valves, and fittings
- Experience with sensors and instrumentation (pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc.), data acquisition, and automation systems
- Familiarity with precision clean hardware and systems
- Experience with environmental testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC‑S‑016, MIL‑STD‑1540 or MIL‑STD‑810
- Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis, processing and reduction techniques
- Experience with data acquisition and automated systems
