Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager – Office Lead
Our client is an accounting platform that acquires established CPA practices and gives them the resources, capital, and infrastructure to grow beyond what most independent firms can access on their own. They're seeking a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager to serve as principal in charge of an established, well-regarded practice in the West Caldwell area. The practice already has a loyal client base and a team in place, this is a chance to step into real ownership of the business and shape where it goes next. This role is hybrid and based in West Caldwell.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the office as principal in charge, owning its clients, quality, delivery, and day-to-day operations
- Manage and develop a team of 4 to 6, supervising work and coaching staff in a collaborative environment
- Review and sign off as the senior technical authority on returns and client deliverables
- Stay hands-on with tax preparation and planning for clients where your expertise matters most
- Own client relationships and serve as the trusted advisor clients rely on through and beyond the transition
- Partner on growth initiatives, integrate AI tools into the practice, and help scale what's working
Required Qualifications
- CPA preferred; experienced EAs will be considered
- 6-8 years of public accounting experience including multistate tax work
- Experience leading or mentoring a team, or clear readiness to step into that role
- Comfortable being hands-on through busy season as a true player-coach
- Strong, warm client-facing communication skills
- Tech-forward mindset with genuine interest in how AI is reshaping the accounting industry
