What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Accountant position at The Agency?
We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our clients team. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and is looking to grow long term.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries while maintaining assigned general ledger accounts
- Completing monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations and analyses
- Supporting month-end and year-end close processes including variance analysis and financial reporting schedules
- Supporting preparation of regulatory, management, and board related reports and ensuring they are completed accurately and on time
- Analyzing financial results, identifying unusual activity or significant variances, and communicating findings to leadership
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement initiatives that strengthen internal controls
- Supporting internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests
- Researching issues, discrepancies, and workflows within the core system
- Preparing ad hoc financial analyses and decision support materials for management
- Contributing to special projects, system enhancements, and cross training as needed
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
- 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience including general ledger, financial analysis, and month-end close
- Banking or financial institution experience preferred
- Experience with budgeting and reporting software, Cognos, Microsoft queries, and core banking systems
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement analysis
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and collaborate across departments
