Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee complex accounting functions and support accurate, timely financial reporting for a variety of small businesses. This role is responsible for account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, budget support, variance analysis, cash flow analysis, regulatory compliance, and guidance of junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, technically proficient, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for Partnerships S Corps, C Corps and consolidated groups.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure complete and reliable reporting.
- Use accounting systems and related applications effectively, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and process optimization.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Review the work of accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices.
- Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and working papers for year-end audits.
- Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Qualifications and Core Competencies
- Proficiency in General Ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Budget Preparation
- Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience using project management tools or similar systems to track deadlines and keep projects on schedule.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset focused on delivering excellent client service and increasingly efficient processes.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Capable of managing accounting responsibilities across multiple companies or client accounts.
- Self-motivated and committed to continuous learning, with a willingness to embrace new technologies and evolving tools.
- Able to support clients through changing financial conditions, including high-pressure or crisis situations, with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and support junior staff when needed.
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar major
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in accounting. Public accounting experience is a plus.
