The Sr. Accountant reports to the Vice President – Business Operations and is responsible for managing the Company’s accounting procedures, records, and systems to ensure accurate, thorough, and timely reporting of financial data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Includes training and supervising administrative staff related to recording, processing, and filing accounting information. Also includes working closely with other managerial staff to accomplish Company objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Job Costing & WIP
- Inventory & Fixed Assets
- Taxes – Income, Payroll, Franchise, Property, and Sales & Use
- Cash Flows
- Budgeting
- Internal Controls
- Maintain daily Cash balance and projected Cash Flow reports.
- Ensure timely processing and reporting of Customer receipts.
- Monitor receivables balances and assist with collections as necessary.
- Review over/under billings and report significant variances.
- Ensure discounts offered by suppliers are utilized.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors, subcontractors, and service providers (especially review for overpayment).
- Prepare and complete tax filings and deposits on schedule.
- Prepare and post journal entries, and perform period end closings.
- Review ledger balances for accuracy and consistency and investigate unusual trends and/or significant variances.
- Ensure maintenance of fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare and coordinate responses to third party inquiries, reviews, and audits related to accounting records.
- Develop and document internal controls that efficiently and effectively meet the needs of the Company and individual departments.
- Ensure accounting records are properly maintained and organized.
- Promote communication and cooperation between Accounting and other Departments and ensure that noted issues are properly resolved.
- Perform additional duties as directed by Company Officers.
EDUCATION:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of accounting experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License preferred
- Must have a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Accounting practices of the construction industry
- Contracts, liens, the Uniform Commercial Code, and taxing authority regulations
- Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals
- MS Office suite proficiency required .
- Experience working in a private equity-owned company preferred
- Technical knowledge of US GAAP required
- Experience in a multi-project-based company, preferably in Construction, Engineering, or other project-based industry experience
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of Percentage-Of-Completion (POC)
- accounting desired
- Systems-savvy with implementation experience and proficiency preferred
- Proficiency in G/L, business intelligence and reporting tools preferred
- MS Office suite proficiency required
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
- Financial Management
